In the year 1999 a gigantic alien aircraft crashed on the Southern Atalis Island, and ten years later it revived as a huge battleship by human hands and was named as Macross.
On the day of launching ceremony of Macross into space, human beings meet the space aliens for the first time. Ironically, however, it turns out to be the very day a war to break out between the two species.
In the midst of the war against the Zentradis whose height is over ten meters, Akira Ichigo, the main character meets with Lynn Minmei, a girl of mysterious charm. Meanwhile, encouraged by Roy Focker, his senior friend, Akira joins the Global Forces and his personality matures as he experiences hardships and sufferings while serving as a combatant.
