Doraemon, the Cat has been tremendously popular with Japanese children from the time he first appeared as a cartoon strip character in 1970.
Now the television version has become extremely successful and everyone in Japan knows this charming cosmic cat and his zany adventures. Merchandising items abound, including Doraemon dolls, T-shirts, and educational toys.
Doraemon, the cartoon's main character, has come from the 22nd Century and easily transcend both time and space. His costume contains a magic pocket from which he can produce endlessly ingenious inventions to make children's fantasies come true. These gadgets are always curious and funny, and lead Doraemon and his friend Nobita from one hilarious, action-packed adventure to the next.
