...a 4th grader whose name is Nobita. He is a dullard in school, poor at sports, and generally fails at whatever he tries to do. One day, a cat-like robot, suddenly jumped out of his desk drawer when he opened it. This was DORAEMON. Nobita's great-great grandchild, Sewashi, sent him 'time' ahead from the 'futuristic', 22nd century, to help Nobita at all times. DORAEMON has a 4th dimension pouch on his belly in which he carries many fantasic futuristic tools that can resolve any of Nobita's problems, or even grant any of his wishes, no matter what. On his Time Machine, he can travel both into the past and the future, across space to correct Nobita's failures in hispresent time.
The story develops at a fast pace with Doraemon and Nobita as the central characters. Members of Nobita's family, his friends such as Gian, Suneo, and Ahizuka-chan and Dorami, Doraemon younger sister, also enter the story at various stages and appeal to children who regularly watch them. Sometimes the story follows a major adventure into the world of dinosaus which existed 100 million years ago or fast forwards to another planet toexplore the far reaches of space.
